Now that we have officially entered 2014, it is always a lot of fun to look back on the year that has just passed, in this case 2013, and for movie lovers, it is a time to look back at the best Bollywood movies of the year. In all honesty, 2013 was quite a year for Bollywood films. There were a number of sequels that were released in 2013, records were smashed by certain films and a lot of money was made in the film industry both in India as well as overseas. If you haven’t yet seen the following movies, make sure to make it a priority to see the best Bollywood films of 2013 in no particular order:

‘Grand Masti’

One of the surprise box office hits of 2013 was the film ‘Grand Masti’. Why was this such a surprise hit? Because overall, critics had few nice words for this film and it was not expected to do well when it was released in mid September. Moviegoers, however, had other opinions and the film went on to become a member of the 100 crone club and is the highest grossing film in India of all time with an A (Adults Only) certificate. If you want some laughs, this is the 2013 movie for you.

‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’

The film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was also a hit film from Bollywood in 2013. Starring Farhan Akhtar as legendary Olympian Milkha Singh and Sonam Kapoor as Biro, the film was not only well liked by critics, it was beloved by audiences as well, making it the third highest grossing film of the year. Even today, the film is still in the spotlight thanks to comments by Naseeruddin Shah claiming the performance of Akhtar was “fake”. If you haven’t seen it, watch it now!

‘Chennai Express’

No look back at film in 2013 would be complete without adding ‘Chennai Express’. Not only was this film the highest grossing in India for the year, it was also the third highest grossing in overseas markets. Shahrukh Khan takes the lead role and the film also stars Deepika Padukone. Though reviews from critics were mixed, audiences loved this film. If you love a typical ‘masala’ film from Bollywood, you will adore ‘Chennai Express’.
